CD Rigo y su Obra Maestra - Conquistando al Bailador 2003
Lekkere, dansbare salsa uit Puerto Rico met als hit voor de (salsa) dansvloer "Rico Son."
The production of Conquistando al Bailador does exactly what it says, "to conquer the dancer". This album is meant to be danced to from start to finish. The musical arrangements have been carefully worked through and they really get to the heart of the salseros. There is a little of everything for everyone in this album. From a romantic song, Amor vital, written and interpreted by Eddie Meléndez or even a song that pokes fun, Pobre marido, where a situation of a married man and his wife are described humorously without ever opaquing the excellent beat of the music. All of the singers are good and blend harmoniously, especially Waldo Colón who has a voice that is very similar to Andy Montanez.
The musical style presented here reminds me of the days when the orchestra predominated and the dancer glided from one side of the room to the other in the beat of the music. The clave and the swing that dancers always seek is, without a doubt, in this album.
