CD (2012) PASAPORTE van Alexander Abreu Y Havana de Primera.
On their debut album, Haciendo historia, Alexander and crew put the world on notice that Timba was alive and kicking. With songs dealing from love to social issues and with arrangements that were so aggressive, it took folks by surprise. 2012`s PASAPORTE kicks off with the roof raiser, "Pa` mi gente". This band sounds so powerful, it feels like a tsunami is coming at you. You will need a break after you hear this track.
Another guest, Issac Delgado, lends his pipes and style to "Dónde estamos tu y yo". This track would fit perfectly in any salsa club in the world and is one of the highlights of the CD.
While there’s nothing ground breaking like their previous release, the good news is that they are still head above water any other Timba band. Yes, even above those… On their debut album, Haciendo historia, Alexander and crew put the world on notice that Timba was alive and kicking. With songs dealing from love to social issues and with arrangements that were so aggressive, it took folks by surprise. The question became, "Can they do it again?" The answer is for the most part, yes!
